An experiment with low-cost capture of conference presentations is described. The goal was to produce material for on-demand replay through the ACM Digital Library. RGB capture was used for high-quality capture of presentation material, and a "capture-and-compress-to-disk" recording that is similar to broadcast industry "live-to-videotape" recording was used to reduce the cost of production. This paper describes the technology used to capture and publish the conference presentations and the lessons learned.
A revised version of this paper with additional statistics about usage was published in IEEE Multimedia in the Oct-Dec 2006 issue.
