Abstract

This seminar will kick-off the tenth semester of the Berkeley Multimedia, Interfaces, and Graphics Seminar that is webcast live on the Internet using Mbone and Real Networks technology. The history of the Mbone and the Berkeley MIG Seminar will be discussed, including the technology used to produce the webcasts. These webcasts can be viewed live or on-demand from the seminar archive from any desktop computer. I will also discuss the experiments and technology we hope to deploy in the seminar webcasts this semester.

The MIG Seminar webcast is part of the Berkeley Internet Broadcasting System (BIBS) which broadcasts two live video feeds and several classes each semester. The classes that will be webcast this fall will be discussed and the technology being deployed to produce these programs.

Finally, I will present some thought about what we might try to do in the future with an emphasis on possible undergraduate or graduate research projects.
